The mission of the Pacific Neuroscience Research Center under the direction of Santosh Kesari, MD, PhD is to accelerate the development of novel therapies for glioblastoma through genomics, drug innovations, and efficient clinical trials. More than 18,000 Americans develop a brain or neurologic tumor annually. Dr. Kesari’s research focuses on integrating basic, preclinical and clinical science to improve the understanding of brain tumor biology leading to customized patient treatments. By combining laboratory and clinical data through translational research programs, he strives to provide improved individually tailored therapies for patients living with malignant gliomas and other brain tumors. Equally important, he seeks to find patient-specific therapies that help reduce the toxicity of treatments and improve the quality of life for patients and caregivers. Dr. Kesari and his team also provide innovative clinical trials for patients including those with primary brain tumors, as well as patients with cancers that have metastasized to the brain from primary cancers such as breast, lung, and skin. Clinical trials like these offer the best hope for curing brain cancer.
